Continuing The God Show. You can find out more and get caught up HERE or at the link on the right under “other writings.”
The God Show is five channels (in addition to the Bible) that don't change over time or according to culture, where God's ways, invisible attributes, eternal power and divine nature are clearly perceived but often missed: 1. Nature, 2. Authority, 3. Family, 4. Marriage, 5. You. Really, he's all over the place.
We’re in the nature channel, beginning to see how the whole earth is filled with God’s holiness. Job has just been blown away as God uses creation to show how Job cannot understand God’s ways.
------------------------------------------------
After all that, after being swept away with the tsunami of God’s creation, Job’s exhausted voice is heard midst the flotsam as the wave recedes.
I know that you can do all things: no plan of yours can be thwarted. You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things to wonderful for me to know.
My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you,
Job, the most blameless and upright man around, now says his previous understanding of God was as if he had only heard of him. But now God’s eternal power and divine nature are clearly perceived as Job appreciates the unknowable majesty of the things God has created.
Job was already familiar with nature, but now he sees creation in a way he had not – now he sees God’s glory in those things.
When Job is sensitized to God’s creation, he sees himself compared to God – and Job’s whole expectation of his right or ability to understand or question God’s ways changes.
In nature, the whole earth is filled with God’s holiness. Being awakened to appreciate his glory in creating the whole earth and universe can help us have humble and right expectations of things that God allows us and people we know to go thru. It can cause us to hesitate and be fearful and respectful in trying to give answers and explanations for things we have no ability to fully comprehend.
