A conversation between Thinker and Soul

Soul:  We need to talk.  I’m hungry.

Thinker:  Yeah hold on a minute, I’m busy

S:  You’re always busy.

T:  I have to be busy – someone has to deal with all these issues and plans and steps and stuff.

S:  But that’s all you do.  Besides, you’re the one who came up with half that stuff; no one’s making you do it.

T:  Yeah, well, if you were in charge you’d say ‘Oh, all that’s not so important.’  What would happen then?

S:  I don’t know.

T:  Right!  Because you don’t think!

S:  Look, I have no problem with you leading.  I know that’s how you’re wired and you can’t help it.  But you have to listen to me and not decide on your own all the time..

T:  OK, I’m listening.  Oh, hold on I need to run over here for just a minute.

S:  (Sigh)

T:  OK, I’m ready.

S:  Listen, you’re very gifted.  You have tremendous energy.  You can go 24-7-365.  That’s good.  But you can be Johnny-one-note.  You need to aim yourself at some things that will feed me so I can help you -- look at me, I’m so scrawny I can’t help anyone!

T:  Well, you need to be more like me and feed yourself.

S:  I need you to feed myself!  We’re supposed to work together!  You can lead, but you have to listen to me.  You act like this is all about you.  You’re kind of selfish – but being selfish really ends up hurting you.  If you’d let me help, you’d be better off.

T:  I am rather tired.  Actually very tired. 

S:  If you’ll point yourself at certain things and use all those amazing abilities of yours to explore those things, I’ll be able to be who I am and then I can help you better be who you are.

T:  OK.  Like what?

S:  Well, you could start with this

are you the thinker or the soul. I thought I was the soul until I found I had more characteristics of the thinker. Thanks for making me think.
