This isn’t the same thing, but I remember someone saying if there’s a person you have trouble thinking good thoughts about, pray for them. You won’t be able to stay bugged. It’s the buried treasure principle:

i once prayed for my father for quite some time. It was harder than it should have been, but that was my fault.
Then one day i was moved during prayer to buy flowers for a woman i would have rather smacked on the back of the head. That little gesture changed everything. It gave me an idea...
i posted a photo of him at my desk at work, a photo of him at about 3 years old on a tricycle. When i prayed for that little boy i meant it and i understood more too.
When i saw him through God's eyes he didn't look different, but i changed.
So, when i ask a friend for a childhood photo, they have no idea why, but something almost always is soon different.
God is awfully clever.
