Watching this is more than uncomfortable -- it's almost torturous; my heartrate went up and I kept catching myself not breathing. I thought, Oh God please make it end...how much longer...?
But they can't make it end.
I asked the guy who showed this to me -- "So what does that do to you? Why do you watch it? What's the point?" You feel guilty for not responding in some constructive way. I expected him to answer with some call to action that everybody should take.
He said, "It just makes me appreciate what I've got, because it could be so different."
Life IS so different for so many people, in so many ways that we never see or know.
It's different for the children and families who lived through that thing over 20 years ago.
Did you know over 500,000 kids were affected? It couldn't be that many, could it? This is the story of some of the worst.
