I can be a dabbler -- just play with things and do it when I feel like it. I can make things complicated -- maybe this isn't for me...I'm not really made to do this kind of thing...
How do you know if you should or should not work hard at something, or even if you should do it at all? Sometimes I have to keep it simple:
- Is it a SHOULD? -- a moral compuslion? Are you convinced God put it in your mind? Does it feel wrong to not do it?
- Is it a WANT TO? -- a strong desire? Do you keep thinking of it and have an urge to do it? Is it an idea that just won't go away?
- Is it a HAVE TO? -- a responsibility? Like working and paying bills & taxes and taking care of your family. Anything you have no choice about, or that you've agreed to do, is a HAVE TO, unless you renegotiate it.
OK, whatever you've answered 'yes' to -- can you do it without doing it? Is there another choice for getting it done without you doing it? If no, then you have to do it.
And for anything you've decided to do -- can you do it without working hard at it and everything will be fine? If no, then you have to work hard at it.

We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work. -- John 9.4
