...on our old sofa today. The new one comes tomorrow -- ooooh, leather -- not expensive, not cheap; in the middle. Being a guy, one of my big questions is how this new one is going to handle naps. In the showroom, Brenda told me to lay down and try it out -- I was a little shy, but finally did. The arms may be a bit low. The arms on the old one are perfect -- I've never needed a pillow, and the angle for sleeping, for me, is just right. Don't you agree there's nothing like taking a nap when you're not really planning on it? -- you just get comfortable and....zzzzzzz (until a kid jumps on you). Such a luxury and privilege. I thank God for naps. And nap-friendly sofas.
Brenda says I'm too nostalgic. I reminisce about the homes (6) and cities (3) the old sofa has been in, and the friends who have sat on it, and the talks we've had sitting on it. She won't go there -- "it's a sofa!"
Yeah, but it's also 10+ years of your life. I was trying to think of the top 10 things I remember with the old sofa -- you know, significant stuff in life that the sofa was there for (like a good buddy), but all I can think of is snuggling against Brenda and American Idol and Fox News and Christmas wrapping paper and sleeping sitting up in the middle of the night because I was too sick to lay down in bed and...naps (ahhhh). Brenda's right.
Goodbye old friend. Here's the picture that will be on Craigslist:
