Presidents aren't usually known for forgiveness

But President Ford always will be.  Watergate was the OJ Simpson trial of its day -- on and on, day after day for years.  Nixon was the bad guy and when the new president pardoned him, Ford became the bad guy, too.  It's probably the reason he was only President for 2+ years.  But, he said America couldn't stand any more of the turmoil (remember how sick we were of all the OJ publicity?) and that continuing on and putting an ex-President on trial and maybe sending him to jail would be too much.  Here's the forgiving president in his own words...
