His name is Daniel Schimenes. Maybe you heard him on the radio a couple of weeks ago. He's a dentist in Brazil. But for the last few years he's been frustrated and dissatisfied. The work and money and lifestyle weren't enough. So for a while, in additon to his dentistry practice, he's been organizing trips to poor villages in his country. He helps train and lead teams of people from families and churches (and radio stations!) to be servants in needy communities in Brazil, to help with basic health care and to come alongside residents to help build churches and orphanages and schools. Daniel believes doing this makes a big difference in the lives of his people, and it earns the right to talk about the Jesus who totally changes lives.
Daniel became so absorbed in this mission, he wanted to give up being a dentist and do it full-time. Understandably, his wife was a little spooked. I married a dentist, not a missionary! Daniel waited. Then invited her to go on a trip with him. When she went, the same thing happened to her that happened to him. The God who worked in Daniel's heart is working in her heart, and soon instead taking care of teeth, he will be mobilizing team after team to help take care of whole villages.
You can be part of what Daniel and his wife and kids are doing. They need people to pray. Oh, and they don't get paid. People who believe in what he is doing have to send him money. It's really a God thing. Here's the address to help out:
