Watched the sun rise over the intracoastal waterway between Figure Eight Island and Topsail Island...
Listened to the wind constantly sound like rain in the palm tree next to the deck of the house our friends let us use.
..

Fought back tears of joy at the sight of bazillions of books at Cape Fear Book and Supply on Front Street in Wilmington. When we left, the friendly shopkeeper told us to come back later for the dancing girls...of course they're all my age. He was about 70...
Got wet at Wrightsville Beach...
In the car on the way back to Charlotte, I told her a song that reminded me of her was Chris Rice's When Did You Fall. I feel about her the way the guy in the song does--I can't believe you love me!
She told me a song that reminds her of me is David Wilcox's Break in the Cup. Back in the old days, I would try so hard to make her happy. No matter what I did there was always something more she needed. I would pour the love in and it would leak right out. Today she says, poor man, you were trying to be Jesus for me. The last lines of the song:
You cannot make me happy
Not when I'm empty inside of me
But you can pull yourself right in here with me
My misery'd love to have your company
We cannot trade empty for empty
We must go to the waterfall
For there's a break in the cup that holds love
Inside us all
She says for so long she was a Christian who had an unopened gift that could fill her cup.
Here's the gift.
